6/07 The play was fantastic. I was especially impressed at how human Frank made this once vilified man. I don't mean to make apologies for Nixon or his poor judgement, dyed-in-the-wool Democrat that I am, but I always felt sorry for him. Everyone makes mistakes, and he made some doozies, but he was just a man, not a monster, and forgive me for saying but what he did was no worse than what the Democrats were doing, his people just happened to get caught. Nobody died because of Watergate. Not so certain I can say the same of more recent Presidents' wrongdoings. bio | stagecredits | filmandtv | voice | awards | news | fanart | sitecredits | links | home | video | byfrank | interviews | reviews | screensavers || audio A Message from the Webmaster From time to time I'll be posting information here regarding what's going on with the website, updates, etc. *** Some of the girls made or bought gifts for him. One spent many hundreds of hours making a "fan fan", (see photo on fan art page), a beautiful thing with which Frank was very impressed. Another bought a rug with the presidential seal on it, and a pair of presidential cufflinks which she got from the Nixon Museum, and which he promised to wear at the evening performance. He was sweet and charming and attentive. Alas it was over too soon, as all good things seem to be. We took our pictures and said our farewells, and then we returned to the real world. So 5 or 6 of us went to the evening performance, as I said we had made special arrangements to buy Frank's personal house seats, and nice seats they were. During the performance, as promised, Frank did indeed wear the cufflinks presented to him that afternoon, and he made a point of discreetly showing them to us during the performance. Then we waited afterward for autographs for some of our missing Noises Off members who could not make the journey this year, but as it happened Frank left by another exit and we didn't see him again that evening. Still undaunted, I and another fan had plans to see Angela Lansbury's opening across the street the next day, and so we came early to catch Frank as he was leaving his matinee. He was in a hurry, late for some appointment he said, but still was kind enough to grant some quick autographs. I noticed that all the people before and after me got only quick initials (FL) but for mine he took the time for a full autograph. I like to think at some point he realized who I was and that's why he took the extra time for mine, late as he was. I didn't bring him a gift, but this website is my gift to him, my ongoing labor of love. If you don't see the navigaion menu at the top of the page, click > HERE < Viva Langella!
2/09 Well, he maybe didn't win the OSCAR THIS year, but there's always next year or the year after. Frank is getting some awesome roles lately and each one just gets better and better. I was a little surprised he didn't get more attention for Starting Out in the Evening.
Next up, The Box and All Good Things will be released later this year. And hopefully, if he keeps to his usual schedule maybe another play next year. I'm saving my nickels in hopes of getting to see that one, since I was unable to get to the east coast to see A Man for All Seasons. But I digress. We saw the play, and afterward, as prearranged, we were escorted backstage to a waiting area, and then after a time actually ON stage (when the theatre was empty of course) to await our private audience with Himself. Frank finally appeared, freshly showered, and greeted each of us individually and shook our hands. Frank has the softest, warmest hands! And he looks you in the eye and you can see he is actually listening to your name when you introduce yourself. I don't however think it actually registered immediately when I told him I am his webmaster. I think it may have later, but I'll explain in a minute.
